Magic Tricks To Learn

How do I resize an image after using the magic wand in photoshop?

Hey guys. I'm a beginner to photoshop and I'm having some trouble. I used the magic wand to get outline an image I wanted. I then moved it to a new canvas, but its too big. I was wondering if there was a way I could shrink my image. I was watching a tutorial on youtube and it said something about handles but I don't see any. Thanks for all the help.

  1. zoom! just click zoom! then see above, left, there are 2 options, + or - choose -. after that, you can save as!
  2. I think you did too much to it in order to undo all of the moves and outlines you put on. I think you need to start it all over again.
  3. Press CNTL T and you'll be able to resize. Though if you want to avoid loss of image quality, paste the selection into a new image (I think what you called a new canvas) and use Adjustments > Image Size and make sure Resample is not checked.
  4. Right click on the top dialogue box click on image size. In there you will find how much you will shink your image proportionally according to percentage or for your given size and a given resolution. Hope you are able to find this. Happy Photoshopping!
  5. Go to edit free transform - then you'll be able to resize.
  6. the reason you can't see the handles is because you have "show bounding box" unchecked. In later versions of PS it might be called "show transform controls". It is located at the top of screen, but only when you are using the "move" tool (the arrow icon that lets you move things). Check it, select something with your magic wand, click on the move tool, and suddenly you can see the handles around your selected outline now. Drag on them to resize things.
